The Client:

The Mondial group of companies is one of Austria’s established travel companies with its Congress Management, Corporate Travel & Events (business travel – flight department, corporate events & incentives, location finder), Destination Management (incoming for FIT and groups), Tour Operator and Tourism (travel agencies) divisions, as well as corporate holdings in Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Germany. The family-owned company generated group sales of over EUR 60 million in 2018. 

The Project:

The incoming sector is under pressure throughout the travel industry due to digital transformation (booking platforms, hotel industry revenue management tools and high transparency for end customers). The global economic crisis (2009 onwards) and Russian sanctions (2014 onwards) led to further margin erosion in Central European city tourism. In 2018, Management Factory supported Mondial in preparing a business planning review with a main focus on the destination management (incoming) sector. The recommendations developed by Management Factory and the related planning calculation were the basis for decision making in the owner family and the starting point for implementation.
